Description

This 500mL bottle of Field’s Stain A is a laboratory-grade biological staining reagent. It is a buffered, dark blue to violet solution composed of methylene blue and Azure B (or Azure I) dyes dissolved in a phosphate buffer. This stain is primarily used in hematology for the rapid differential staining of thick blood films to diagnose malaria parasites (Plasmodium), as well as for identifying other blood-borne pathogens such as spirochetes and trypanosomes. As part of the Romanowsky-type staining method, it works in conjunction with Field’s Stain B to provide clear polychromatic visualization, specifically coloring the nuclei and chromatin of cells in blue to purple shades.
